Different Types of Pool Covers

Adams Swimming Pool Inc. of Nashville Tennessee wants your home pool safe and protected, which is why we offer a number of home poolsafety covers.

Whether you’ve got little kids and are looking for something to protect your family, or you’ve got teens and are looking to protect your pool, we know this list of pool safety covers and their pros and cons will help you find the perfect cover for your home pool this Spring.

1.     Standard winter cover.  Although the season is over, standard winter covers range in price from $75-$250.  They keep out sunlight and other debris.  While they are cost effective, standard covers really don’t protect pool patrons, and will often sink if someone falls on them.  They also require a pool pump to keep water off the top layer of the cover.
2.     Security Covers.  Security Covers range in price from $1200 to $3000 depending on pool size and quality.  Security covers are usually made of mesh, pulled taught and anchored to the concrete around your pool.  You could liken a security cover to a trampoline.  There is little to no upkeep and mesh security covers usually last 10-15 years.  The mesh material does, however, let small debris pass through, and therefore requires water filtration at least once a pool season.
3.     Automatic Covers.  Automatic Covers protect against sun and unwanted guests/swimmers and are good at cutting down cost of cleaning the pool.  The most expensive of the pool covers, they range in price from $5000-$15000.  The biggest problem with auto covers is all of the components tend to break down at some point.  Unless you’re prepared to pay for upkeep, an automatic cover may not be the way to go.
